![]() ![]() ![]() There were several years of good 120gr MPT, and I had no issues with it. Initial lots of 123gr Soft Point in 6.5 Grendel were garbage, caused all sorts of blown primers, belted cases, seems to have been discontinued quickly. Look at what happened with the PPU ammunition, for another example. It's not as easy as people think, and is best left to companies with the track record to back their reputation up. Now add on all the processes of manufacturing ammo that even the large manufacturers have issues with time to time, and the institutional knowledge required to crank out hundreds of thousands of consistent, quality cartridges. ![]() How do you control quality on the brass? What level of inspection do you subject the brass to, and what is your reject criteria? That's the problem with remanufactured ammunition. It's not worth the risk to me to save money up front, only to watch my AR15 or pistol turn into a frag grenade. We have to ask ourselves, do we want this kind of ammunition being made for 6.5 Grendel if there are these many warnings? If you hand me a green and white box of ammo as a gift, I'll assume I didn't make your Christmas card list this year. Dented in cases so bad, powder was flowing out of the hole. I also won't buy Remington ammo after what I've seen come from them in new, unopened boxes, and I will never advocate for Remington to make 6.5 Grendel. Customers also reported seeing a promotional photo from Freedom Munitions showing cartridges with primers seated backwards on their own webpage. I just found 3 separate incidents in 3 different cartridges, all within the past 18 months. I hear the horror stories on the net and alot of them are the same ones being passed around as a new issue (like many other things over the world wide web.įor me, I have been using them for Classes and Matches since 2007 and I get great support each time I email or call. A friend of mine had three failure to fires (over a year) with the same Loaner pistol we use in classes that's it. I have never had one issue all these years. We have shot over 25,000 rounds of Freedom Munitions. If you do a google search, you'll see kaboomed AR15s. A larger fragment had embedded into the side of my cheek, which was bleeding. I will admit I had forgotten my shooting glasses that morning (which are dark tinted), as it was overcast and raining (I know no excuse). I immediately checked my face, discovered my left and right eye was fine, but found several fragments had embedded into my cheek and under my left eye. I saw a bloom of what appeared to be blue smoke, and felt metal fragments pepper the left side of my face. I had fired approximately 4-5 rounds, with no noticeable change in report (semi-rapid fire), when the Colt just blew out of my hands. I loaded a magazine (Brownells brand Metalform) with a mixture of the Freedoms FMJ and HP, and began shooting again. I had approximately 350 rounds downrange as of that morning. Last week, on, I had been shooting the new Colt, which had been performing flawlessly with the ammo to that point. ![]()
